For Students

Are you a Dexter student looking to get involved in our efforts or start your own campaign for positive change?  Here are some ideas:

In the Cafeteria:

Taste test local foods each month with us, and help spread the word about our Farm Fresh Food Days

In the Classroom:

Ask your teacher about how your class can use the garden for a project or unit of study!  You can do anything from start seeds in your classroom window, to study pollinators in their natural habitat.

In the Community:

Are you an IB student at Dexter High School? Consider doing your Creativity Action Service (CAS) project in the Sullivan Memorial Learning Garden at DHS! You can work on growing food for school meals, for people in need in the community, or build something for the garden. You will build your resume, challenge yourself, and learn something new, all while enjoying the outdoors and getting to eat free fresh food! Email if you are interested in working with the garden at DHS for your CAS project or service hours.

Let us know what you want to see in your school gardens, cafeterias, and kitchens by joining one either the Dexter Schools Garden Boosters or the Farm to School Stakeholder Advisory Group.

Volunteering not only helps others in your community, it is also a great way to build your skills, confidence, and connection to others. We’d LOVE you to volunteer with us.  But here are a few additional organizations that you could get involved with to support similar efforts:
